Suryabharathi Group has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving and promoting Thrissur’s rich cultural heritage by extending financial support to Pulikali and Desha Kummatti troupes, two vibrant traditions that are synonymous with the spirit of Onam in Thrissur.

The financial assistance was distributed at a function held at the Suryabharathi Group’s corporate headquarters in Thrissur. The event was inaugurated by Thrissur Corporation Deputy Mayor A. Prasad, who appreciated Suryabharathi Group’s continued commitment to the community and its efforts to support the city’s cultural traditions.

Presiding over the function, Suryabharathi Group Chairman K. P. Manoj Kumar said that Pulikali is much more than a festive performance.

He noted that Pulikali and Kummatti add a unique character to Thrissur’s Onam celebrations, transforming the festival into a celebration of equality, togetherness and community spirit. He also emphasised the need to preserve these traditions and ensure that their cultural legacy is passed on to future generations.

The financial assistance was jointly distributed by Suryabharathi Group and Mangalam TV. Each Pulikali troupe received ₹1 lakh, while each Kummatti troupe received ₹25,000.
In a significant announcement, K. P. Manoj Kumar stated that the financial assistance for Pulikali troupes would be increased to ₹1.5 lakh from next year. He also announced that enhanced support would be extended to Kummatti troupes.

K Keshavadas, Thara Athiyadath, Surendran Aynikkunnath, Ratheesh Kadavil, media representatives Gopalakrishnan M. D., Jithesh, Sudheesh, Binoy Kuriakose, P. Santhosh Kumar, K. V. Madhu, Chinthu Satheesan, Balan Kanamangalam, C. G. Ashokan, Biju Aattoor, among others, addressed the gathering.
Representatives of Pulikali and Kummatti troupes, media professionals, and prominent personalities from the social and cultural spheres attended the event.
